1. Support legislative initiatives to lift Cumberland County from a Tier 1 County to a Tier 3 county elevating it to the top twenty economically advantaged counties in the state.

2. Lower taxes on businesses to spur genuine economic growth in NC House 42 and across NC.

3. Sponsor legislation to increase trade course training and education within the K-12 sphere.

4. Work to attract industry that will provide numerous long-term jobs to Cumberland County.

1. Ensure our courageous Law Enforcement professionals and other First Responders have the equipment, training, and staffing required to continue to make NC House 42 and Cumberland County increasingly safe.

2. Work with community youth deterrence stakeholders to enhance effective programs and provide youth who are at risk of entering delinquency the opportunity to reject crime and secure a positive future for themselves.

3. Pass legislation to ensure that obscene materials and publications are kept out of the classrooms and libraries of NC K-12 schools.

MY BIO

Leonard L. Bryant was born in February 1969 and grew up in the town of Saluda, South Carolina. After graduating high school in 1987 he attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia. In 1988 while in college he enlisted in the South Carolina Army National Guard as an infantryman and served in the South Carolina Army National Guard Armory in Newberry. During this time, he also volunteered with an organization called Cities in Schools as an inner-city school tutor. He then accepted employment with the Boys and Girls Club in Columbia, SC. In 1992 he enlisted in the regular army as a wire communications specialist and served at Fort Wainwright, AK.

In December of 1992, he married the former Ms. Patrinia Blye of Myrtle Beach. They have three adult children. Leonard served on active duty for 13 years consecutively and transitioned into the Army Reserve as a religious affairs specialist in 2005. Upon his departure for active duty, he began employment with the Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention from 2005-2010. He served in several follow-on military assignments during this time and retired in 2020 after being recalled back onto active duty in 2017. He served in numerous positions of authority as a soldier, and he deployed to combat five times during his service.

Upon his retirement, Leonard volunteered his time and effort to make his community better. He volunteered with the Agape Pregnancy Support Center of Fayetteville, NC in 2021 to help young low-income women choose life for themselves and their babies. In 2022 he ran for the US Senate. He currently serves on the board of the Highlands Charter Academy of Moore County beginning in 2023. Leonard’s adult life is defined by service to his country and his community, and he became a candidate for NC House 42 to continue to serve his community and state.
